The process of identifying victims has been challenging, as many bodies were severely charred or mutilated, delaying their release to families. So far, 14 bodies have been collected by relatives, with 32 identified through DNA testing. 

The crash, which occurred shortly after take-off, resulted in the deaths of nearly all passengers and several people on the ground when the aircraft struck a medical college hostel. Families have been waiting outside the hospital mortuary, many providing DNA samples to expedite identification and burial procedures.

Yesterday, they called me from the civil hospital and just gave the body and processed the formalities of paper and here is the travel procedure we are doing here. Many relatives were seen waiting outside of the mortuary and hundreds more had provided DNA samples at the hospital to speed up identification. They are very depressed at that time and finally they are providing the body, so we all are waiting for it since three to four days. The London-bound Boeing 787 struck a medical college hostel in a residential area of the northwestern city of Ahmedabad minutes after take-off last week. The crash killed all passengers but one and also led to the deaths of several people on the ground in the medical college hostel.
