Church leader Mary Norris Pax says more than 15 cars were broken into in a matter of minutes here Sunday in at least a couple cases, thieves grabbing what they could before jumping into a car and taking off. This is the season for peace and what happened out there was not peaceful and it wasn't limited to her church. Angry, very angry. The chairman deacon of the House of God Church of Cleveland says six cars were broken into there and another two at Mount Ethel Baptist Church on Park Hill. Across town, Cleveland police say vandals broke out windows on 20 more cars at ST Stephen's Church near West 54th and Lorraine. Investigators say six of the cars had stuff stolen from inside. And last week we told you Cleveland police arrested two teens accused of breaking into cars at Olivet Baptist Church. But that didn't seem to slow the crime wave preying on people filling these pews on Sunday. We're asking and hoping and praying that it doesn't continue to happen, but that's going to take resources beyond what we have. So she's hoping Cleveland police increased patrols around churches to restore a sense of safety shattered by what's happening and catch the criminals behind it all.
