According to state broadcaster CCTV on Tuesday (January 24), Mohe, which borders Russia to its north, recorded a temperature of around -53 degrees Celsius (-63.4 Fahrenheit) at around 0700 A.M. A local CCTV correspondent in previous days demonstrated how cold Mohe was by cracking an egg outside on a shovel and showing it freeze within seconds on camera.
