The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a warning ahead of the busy spring travel season as health officials around the globe focus on preventing outbreaks of the viral disease. An official said U.S. health authorities have increased their attention on monitoring cases as they have detected incidents of measles infections now in every region of the world.

Measles can be serious and deadly. The CDC says one in five unvaccinated people in the U. S. Who get measles are hospitalized. You know, a lot of people think about measles being, it's kind of like it's just a childhood disease. It's just kind of a rite of passage and that while most Children get measles and they do okay, it can be a very, very serious infection that you can get pneumonia. Um, you can get brain disease. It's actually one of the leading cause of blindness in the world. Measles is highly contagious. Up to 90% of unvaccinated people who come into contact with an infected person are likely to contract it. According to Cedar Sinai of L. A. The virus is infectious in the air up to two hours after someone infected leaves a space. The World Health Organization says at least 95% of a population must be vaccinated in order to meet herd immunity for measles. When enough people are immune, they protect those who are not and the virus can't spread at one florida elementary school currently facing a measles outbreak. The vaccination rate was just over 90%. If your child's not properly vaccinated against measles, your child is at risk for getting it themselves and just spreading it to others.
