This action follows the official results of the October 12th presidential election, in which Chiroma finished second to incumbent Paul Beer, who has been in power since 1982.

Chiroma and his supporters allege that the election results were manipulated, prompting demonstrations across the country. In an audio message, Chiroma stated he is in a secure location for his protection and encouraged his supporters to remain calm and determined.

In an audio message posted early on Friday, Chiroma urged citizens to cease all activities on November 3rd, 4th and 5th as part of what he called a nationwide ghost town protest. According to official results, Chiroma came second in the October 12th presidential vote, losing to incumbent Paul Beer, who's been in power since 1982. But Chiroma and his supporters say the results were manipulated and protesters have taken to the streets across the country. In the message, Chiroma said he'd been taken to a secure location for his protection. He urged his supporters to stay calm but determined, vowing that our victory will not be stolen.
