Police have found human remains and arrested a man following the disappearance of 23-year-old Sunbury man Joshua Bishop. The body is yet to be formally identified.

Police discovered human remains inside a home in Westmeadows, Melbourne, confirming the death of 23-year-old Joshua Bishop, who had been missing since late May. Bishop was last seen by his housemate and his disappearance prompted an extensive search, including multiple police visits to the area and appeals from his family.

Bishop's car was found in Albion days after he went missing, and his phone was last detected near Broadmeadows Valley Park, close to where his remains were found. A 27-year-old individual is currently in custody as investigations continue, but no charges have been filed. The case has had a significant impact on the local community.

A quiet street in Melbourne's north-west turned crime scene, police locating human remains inside this Ehrenbank Crescent home, confirming the worst fears for Joshua Bishop's loved ones. Our beloved Joshua has been found, his family said in a statement, but sadly not in the way we had hoped. We are devastated and struggling to find the words. The 23-year-old went missing on May 27, last seen by his housemate on Leylagh Crescent around 9.30 that night. Desperate for answers in the weeks following, his parents made an emotional appeal for help. We just wanted him to know that we love him, we care for him, we just wanted to say it. Serious concerns were held for Joshua's welfare. He hadn't used his mobile phone or bank account. His mobile phone last pinged at Broadmeadows Valley Park, right behind the property where the remains were found. That park had been searched at least twice by police. Joshua's white Toyota Corolla was then located on Ridley Street at Albion on June 4. Associates told police they thought the car had been stolen from him. Neighbours say officers had visited the West Meadows property multiple times in the past couple of weeks. Just devastating, devastating for the family. Condolences go out to them. We say it's a bit close to home, but it literally is close to home and yeah, it's a bit, you know, devastating. It's scary living on your own. It's really scary. The case ripped through the local community with posts gaining thousands of views on social media. We're a big part of the East Summit Footy Club, we're a big family here.
