Let's welcome in retired NYPD Chief of Department, John Schell. John, welcome back to the show. Yeah, when you look at this event, in any protest, right, there's a couple of goals here. You have to allow people to exercise their First Amendment, but do it properly. You know, one of the things when I look at that video is how are they so close to the venue? Why are they in the streets? Why weren't they backed up to give a safe zone? But regardless of that, there's no place on violence. Now, this was Antifa, a designated domestic terrorist group. They will be dealt with by Pam Bondi and her crew. But other issues here, and I have protests in New York City, what kind of consequences do these people face? And the answer is not much. We have to change the laws when it comes to protests, when it comes to masks, when it comes to violence. There should be separate laws distinct to protests. Once you start setting consequences, this garbage stops. But I just don't like the way they were so close to the four doors and so close to that people. We own the streets. We dictate where you're gonna stand. I don't know if it would happen here. I'm a Monday morning quarterback, but I don't know if it happened. Well, it is San Francisco, so that answers a lot of questions. But I'm wondering what happened to the left being the party of love and acceptance. I mean, this is none of that. Right, anytime you see this, again, First Amendment, beautiful thing, stay in the sidewalk, say what you gotta say. The police will keep you safe, the protesters safe, everybody safe. But once this happens, it's gotta be a complete condemnation by everybody. It can't be silent. But we keep seeing this for the last couple of years over and over and over again. Once you start putting people in jail with a cheese sandwich and warm milk, this will end. Well, protesters were heard calling attendees Nazis, fascists, and anti-Semites while mocking Charlie's death. Listen. You're dead, homie. You're dead, homie. You're dead, homie. You're dead, homie. You're dead, homie. You're dead, homie. You're dead, homie. You're dead, homie. I mean, this is the kind of violent rhetoric that got Charlie killed a few months ago. Maybe a reminder that more blood could be shed. It's disgusting. It's uncalled for. I had it in New York City, Columbia. But you have to honor the First Amendment. It's tough to stand there and listen to this stuff. But when given a chance to make arrests, when given a chance to find the troublemakers in the crowd, to take them out, and when given a chance to hopefully put them in jail with changed laws, this will cease. But not until that happens. Well, that answers my next question. What can be done to quell the violent protests? And it's the kind of thing I've been saying on this show for a long time. You have to enforce the law. You have to punish people who break the law. You have to make it clear that if they do it, they're gonna pay a hefty price. That, I agree with you, John Selle, is how you can help stop this. I wanna say also, though, that despite that chaos, the event went on as planned with a packed house. So they were able to carry on with this event, but it was certainly very ugly outside. Right, and wouldn't you love to see a law that when it comes to protest activity, you are not allowed to wear a mask? We could probably quell two-thirds of this by putting people on blast with their face, because they don't wanna be out there, they'll lose their job, whatever they're doing. But let's take masks off, that protest activity, and this will also help tremendously. Well, I'm pretty sure that law has been passed in one or more jurisdictions, but it's not being enforced as far as I know, and that's a big problem. But I wanna ask you about Chicago, where we're reminded daily how dangerous a time this is for law enforcement. Homeland Security says in the last two months, they've seen a marked increase in assaults and obstruction targeting agents. The Border Patrol says Latin King Street gang leaders have issued a shoot-on-site order targeting agents in Chicago. And last month, DHS released info on a bounty hunting program that originated apparently in Mexico. How worried are you about these attacks against federal agents? Oh, well, listen, they are law enforcement officers like I was, totally uncalled for and concerning, but it's no surprise because the rhetoric, what they call these agents, is uncalled for, calling them fascists and Nazis and God knows what else. This is why an emboldened people to think that they could take shots at them, that they could use this rhetoric, shoot on site. So hopefully Chicago and those agents are together in what they're doing. I know there's sanctuary laws we can't partake in, but that's not mitigate protecting our brothers and sisters. And from the video I saw over the weekend, it looks like Chicago was protecting their federal brothers and sisters. But again, the rhetoric is no surprise. They're just trying to do their job, their mandate, and they shouldn't be up against this. I couldn't agree more, John. Michelle, thanks for sharing your expertise and for joining the show tonight.
