When I met Mrs Mota, they made me feel very comfortable in this country. Neighbourhood mothers like Rania are paid by the city to help foster integration. The programme began here in Berlin's Moikun district in 2004. It's since been replicated across the capital and nationwide. After a chat about the German school system, it's off to the local library to borrow some books for the kids. Many parents spend a lot of money to buy books. Here you have a big choice, even in different languages. Central to Rania's role are her own experiences of the challenges of parenting and integration.
