After hours of being unable to use their cellphones, AT&T customers have finally had their wireless service restored. The outage impacted tens of thousands of AT&T customers nationwide.

We just got word a little while ago from AT&T that all service has been restored. I know a lot of people are going to be happy to hear that. It's reportedly the second major outage for the network, though, in a week. Tens of thousands cut off Thursday morning if you woke up and grabbed your phone only to realize you had no cell service. Well, you weren't alone. We are becoming more and more dependent on the cellular network and it impacts everybody when it goes down. AT&T customers were the ones hit this time. Here's a look at an outage tracker on down detector. You can see the outage reports shot up between three thirty and four a.m. topping out at almost seventy five thousand outages nationwide by late morning. We have, you know, logistics companies that that use the cellular networks to track their drivers, railroads, you know, so many things. But what's especially disturbing to me is things like first responders who lose connectivity or if you don't have a home phone anymore. A lot of people just don't. Something happens. You can't call 911. Chief technology officer for Global Digital Forensics, Joe Caruso, says cell service outages like these aren't just a pain, but can railroad daily operations or emergency services. If you are really someone in need elderly people who have, you know, full detectors and things like that, there's just so many other things that are impacted so much worse than not being able to make a phone call and getting on Facebook because of that interconnectivity. Tampa Bay government agencies reported outage issues Thursday, warning about calls to 911 not going through. Other providers like Verizon and T-Mobile reported no outage issues. You're on Verizon and you're calling, you know, a child's calling their mom, let's say, and and their mom's on AT&T. They're not going to get through. Thursday afternoon, AT&T reported all service has been restored, saying, quote, keeping our customers connected remains our top priority, and we are taking steps to ensure our customers do not experience this again in the future. Tech experts say there are a number of reasons for these types of outages, like sites connecting the networks going down or software issues. Now, as for this outage, it's not clear yet what caused it.
