Arlington Police have announced the arrest of 32-year-old Braxton Brown in connection with the 2016 murder of Michael Hartley. Hartley, 18 at the time, was found dead in the backyard of a homeowner's residence after being shot while leaving a party with friends.

Brown was arrested on October 24 and charged with murder. Police have not yet disclosed details on how Brown was identified or apprehended, and requests for court documents have been delayed due to a holiday. Brown's bond is set at $2 million.

Arlington Police say the recent arrest of 32 year old Braxton Brown is nearly 10 years in the making. January 2016, a report of shots fired in this southeast Arlington neighborhood. Near the corner of Ember Crest Drive and Brady Court, former spokesman for Arlington PD, then Lieutenant Christopher Cook said. It's a crime. It's a crime. It's a crime. It's a crime. It's a crime. It's a crime. It's very common to receive shots, fired calls or fireworks calls, you know, at late at night, and so we weren't able to locate the victim at that point. Didn't even know anyone shot the victim. 18 year old Michael Hartley. Police say Hartley and some friends were leaving a party that Saturday night and noticed they were being followed. Investigators say Hartley stopped and got out to confront the driver of that car. Hartley was driving forward. He stopped and got out of the car. Hartley ran to a home and hopped the fence. That homeowner discovered him dead in the backyard. The next morning around 7 30 in the morning homeowner. Goes out in the backyard and says, Hey, there's a man in my yard. When we get there, obviously, this victim's deceased after following up, detectives say Hartley and the shooter who they now say is look. Braxton Brown was arrested on October 24th. He was charged with murder. Arlington Police still yet to fill in some of the details, including how they tracked down Brown and connected him to the murder. Our request for that information for court documents likely delayed due to today being a holiday. We do know that Brown was arrested on October 24th. His bond is set at $2 million.
