The 2026 FIFA World Cup final, to be held near New York, is projected to be the most expensive in the tournament's history for fans. International visitors, including many from France, are encountering steep prices for tickets, hotels, and stadium concessions.

Hotel rates in Manhattan during the event are expected to soar to $1,000 per night, while tickets for the final range from $2,000 to $8,000. Food and beverage prices at the stadium are also notably high, with some fans reporting lunch for two costing $45. These costs could make attending the final one of the most expensive experiences in sporting history.

2026: The most expensive FIFA World Cup ever

Attending a World Cup final a few miles from the skyscrapers of New York is a common dream shared by thousands of French football fans. However, the reality of the prices could quickly dampen their enthusiasm. 700, 600, 600, 600. For one night, very good. You could almost find better price for a plane to and from Paris than a night in a hotel in Manhattan. But buying tickets is only one of the problems for fans from abroad. They'll also need accommodations. Just a stone's throw from New York's iconic Times Square, this hotel is preparing to welcome hundreds of fans. Some of its 228 rooms have been newly renovated. During the off-season, prices start at 100 euros a night. But during the tournament, rates will change considerably. Good for $1,000. If I offer this incredible room at the wrong price, then I could be making a mistake. And then there's the concessions at the Meadowlands where the final match will be played on July 19th. This was $14. This was $13. This is expensive. This is like half of my ticket. Lunch for me and my nephew just now was $45. And that's just two meals. It's outrageous. To have any hope of sitting in the stadium during the final, you'll have to shell out between $2,000 and $8,000, which could make this match one of the most expensive in sporting history.
