India's Defense Ministry characterized its actions as focused and non-escalatory, emphasizing restraint in their choice of targets and methods. On the other hand, the Pakistan military has reported downing five Indian jets. According to India's military, additional tensions include cross-border shelling by Pakistan, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of three civilians in Indian-administered Kashmir. The situation has heightened concerns of escalation into a broader conflict between the two nuclear-armed countries.
