The clay courts are constructed from five distinct layers, including stones, gravel, coal residue, limestone, and a thin top layer of crushed red bricks. Maintaining these courts is a significant undertaking, requiring a team of 100 ground staff during the tournament, who sweep, brush, and water the courts before, during, and after matches to ensure optimal playing conditions.
