The conflict included strikes in disputed regions and major cities, marking one of the most serious escalations in recent years.

The agreement to halt hostilities was confirmed by India’s foreign secretary. According to sources, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio played a substantial role in facilitating the ceasefire, alongside diplomatic efforts involving other international partners. Pakistani sources indicated that ongoing diplomatic engagement and mounting military pressure prompted both nations to consider a diplomatic resolution.

In the lead-up to the ceasefire, Pakistan reportedly maintained a military pause to allow room for negotiation, but hostilities resumed following additional Indian attacks. Both sides expressed exhaustion and concern over the potential for further escalation. The ceasefire, now in effect, is seen as a significant step to prevent a broader conflict.

Discussions are expected to continue to solidify the terms of the ceasefire. One ongoing issue raised by Pakistan concerns the control of water resources, with India having reportedly cut off water from rivers vital to Pakistan. While the ceasefire addresses immediate hostilities, further negotiations will be necessary to resolve underlying disputes.
