Recently, a team comprising an art historian, archivist, coastal engineer, and astrophysicist collaborated to solve this mystery. By analyzing Monet's correspondence, historical land registries, business almanacs, tide tables, and even the angle of the sun, they identified the Mirotet hotel in Le Havre as the vantage point and determined the painting was created on November 13, 1872, at approximately 7:35 in the morning. 

This discovery was further supported by details such as the position of ships, the state of the port's lock, and wind direction, all cross-referenced with historical shipping logs. The findings provide a new level of understanding of Monet's masterpiece, though its artistic allure remains undiminished.
