Bitcoin experienced a sharp decline, briefly falling below $99,000 for the first time in over a month. The drop followed confirmation of U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, which led to increased risk aversion and a widespread sell-off in the cryptocurrency market. Other digital assets, including Ether, Solana, XRP, and Dogecoin, also saw significant losses, with Ether dropping more than 10% at its lowest point. 

The sell-off was compounded by concerns over potential inflation and higher interest rates if geopolitical tensions escalate, particularly if Iran moves to block the Strait of Hormuz. Over $1 billion in crypto positions were liquidated, mostly from bullish long positions, and institutional demand for Bitcoin ETFs declined as investors sought safety amid uncertainty.
