He further emphasized the importance of using blackout curtains to reduce heat gain, setting thermostats to a balanced temperature, and utilizing ceiling fans to enhance comfort. Smart thermostats were recommended for optimizing usage when away from home, and air conditioning units should generally be replaced every eight to ten years to maintain peak performance.
