On our 6 p.m. news, seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones telling us the worst of the shaking from the 7.4 quake was in the less populated areas. Although heavily populated Taipei, Taiwan, seen here, felt some strong jolts. It does look like there was a certain level, an amplified level of shaking in Taipei. Taipei sits on a bowl of sediment, just like Los Angeles. And that bowl basically amplifies the shaking. These kids, some of the many, initially trapped in buildings. Motorcycles crushed by this falling building. This one leaning over and vulnerable for total collapse. So that building is in Hualien County, which appears to have gotten the worst damage. Dozens are believed injured. Now the quake struck around 8 o'clock in the morning local time. A lot of people were commuting at the time. There was a tsunami warning issued. The good news is, at this point, officials say the tsunami threat is over.
