In the United States, the advocacy group Beyond Plastics emphasizes the critical role of individual actions in combating plastic pollution. With only five to six percent of plastics in the country being recyclable, avoiding plastic usage is strongly advised. Compounding the issue, it is estimated that five trillion plastic bags are used globally each year, with half of all plastic produced designed for single-use purposes. A lack of strategy at local and global level is hindering efforts. Another campaigner, president of the advocacy group Beyond Plastics in the United States, says every individual effort counts. Only five to six percent of plastics are recyclable in the United States. So your key tip is to try to avoid plastic wherever you can. Five trillion plastic bags are used worldwide every year. Half of all plastic produced is designed for single-use purposes. The task to rein it in is huge.
